What is the difference between a public and a custom app?

A public app is listed on the Shopify App Store and any merchant can install it. A custom app is built for one store or organisation and is never listed publicly.

Do public apps have to use Shopify billing?

Yes. Apps sold through the Shopify App Store must charge through the Shopify Billing API or Shopify's managed pricing. We set this up as part of the build.

What is Built for Shopify?

It is a status Shopify gives apps that meet its highest standards for design, performance and usefulness. Apps that qualify get a badge and more prominence in the App Store. We build to its criteria from the start.

How much does a public Shopify app cost?

Every public app is quoted after a short call, with a fixed price agreed before we start. Updates, API version changes and support after launch are covered by a fixed monthly fee.
