Google review link generator
Paste your Business Profile review link or enter your Place ID to get a direct link to your Google review form. You also get a QR code to download and ready-to-send messages for text, WhatsApp and email.
Worked example.
A Halifax window cleaner wants to send customers a review link after each job and print a QR code on invoices.
- Way in
- Enter Place ID
- Place ID
- ChIJAbC123ExamplePlaceId
The tool builds https://search.google.com/local/writereview?placeid=ChIJAbC123ExamplePlaceId, a QR code PNG to print on invoices and cards, and short text, WhatsApp and email messages with the link already in. Open the link once yourself to check it lands on the review form before you send it to anyone.
How it works.
The maths and the rules behind the tool, so you can check it yourself.
There are two ways in. The most reliable is the short review link from your Google Business Profile: search for your business on Google while signed in to the owner account, choose 'Ask for reviews' (or 'Get more reviews') and copy the link. Paste it here and the tool uses it as it is.
If you would rather use your Place ID, enter it and the tool builds a link in the form https://search.google.com/local/writereview?placeid=YOUR_PLACE_ID. Google's Place ID Finder, in the Google Maps Platform docs, shows the Place ID for a business.
Whichever you use, you get the link to copy, a QR code to download as a PNG for counters, receipts and cards, and short messages for text, WhatsApp and email with copy buttons. Always test the link before you share it.
Tips.
Small changes that make the numbers more useful.
- Ask every customer, not only the ones you think are happy. Google's policies do not allow review gating (choosing who gets asked based on how they feel) or offering discounts, gifts or anything else in return for a review.
- Send the link soon after the job or delivery, while it is fresh in the customer's mind, and keep the message short and personal.
- Print the QR code where people wait or pay: on the counter, receipts, invoices, business cards or a card in the bag. Scan it with a couple of different phones before you print a batch.
- Reply to reviews, good and bad, from your Business Profile. A calm, helpful reply to a poor review shows future customers how you handle problems.
- Save the link where you and your team will use it, such as an email template or the follow-up message in your booking system, so asking becomes part of every job.
Questions, answered.
How do I get a link for customers to leave a Google review?
Sign in to the Google account that manages your Business Profile and search for your business on Google. Choose 'Ask for reviews' or 'Get more reviews' and copy the short link. Paste it into this tool to get a QR code and ready-to-send messages.
How do I find my Google Place ID?
Use Google's Place ID Finder, which is in the Google Maps Platform documentation. Search for your business on the map and it shows the Place ID, which is a long string of letters and numbers. Copy the whole thing with no spaces before or after it.
Can I offer a discount or gift in exchange for a Google review?
No. Google's policies do not allow incentives for reviews, and they also do not allow asking only happy customers. Google can remove reviews that break its policies. Ask every customer in the same way and let them say what they think.
Why is my Google review link not working?
Check you copied the full Place ID or link with no extra spaces, and that it belongs to the right business listing. Open it in a private browser window to see what customers see, and remember they need to be signed in to a Google account to post a review. If in doubt, use the short link from 'Ask for reviews' in your Business Profile, as it is the most reliable option.
Do Google reviews help my local ranking?
Google says the number of reviews and your rating are part of how it judges a business's prominence in local results, alongside relevance and distance. Reviews also help people choose you once they find you. If you want help with the rest of your profile, Infinity offers Google Business Profile support.
