Grow comes to £484 a month: £49 for the plan plus £435 in card fees, which is 2.4% of sales. On the same inputs Basic would cost £514 and Advanced £654, so Grow is the cheapest of the three.

How it works.

The maths and the rules behind the tool, so you can check it yourself.

The calculator adds your plan subscription to your payment fees. With Shopify Payments, you pay your plan's online card rate on sales plus 25p per order: 2.0% on Basic, 1.7% on Grow and 1.5% on Advanced.

With a third-party payment provider, you pay that provider's own percentage and fixed fee per order, and Shopify adds its own fee on top: 2.0% on Basic, 1.0% on Grow and 0.6% on Advanced.

It then runs the same inputs through all three plans so you can see where a higher plan starts to pay for itself. Rates are pre-filled from published UK prices checked in October 2026 and can be edited. Check your exact rates in Shopify admin under Settings, then Payments, as they can change.

It does not include apps, themes, currency conversion, chargebacks or VAT on fees. If you are setting up a new store, Infinity's Shopify website package is £1,000, with the final price confirmed after a short call.

Tips.

Small changes that make the numbers more useful.

  • Compare plans on your real numbers. Higher plans have lower card rates, so as sales grow the saving on fees can outweigh the bigger subscription.
  • On the pre-filled rates, Grow works out cheaper than Basic once monthly sales pass about £10,000 on yearly billing, or about £13,300 on monthly billing. The 25p per order is the same on every plan, so only sales matter for this comparison.
  • Paying yearly lowers the subscription on every plan. If you are confident you will stay on Shopify for the year, it is a simple saving.
  • Using a third-party payment provider means paying Shopify's extra fee on top of that provider's charges. Run both options before you move away from Shopify Payments.
  • Add paid apps and any theme cost to the total yourself, since the calculator leaves them out. Then use the profit margin calculator to check your prices still cover everything.

Questions, answered.

How much are Shopify transaction fees in the UK?

With Shopify Payments, online card payments cost 2.0% + 25p on Basic, 1.7% + 25p on Grow and 1.5% + 25p on Advanced, based on published UK rates in October 2026. If you use a third-party provider, Shopify adds 2.0%, 1.0% or 0.6% on top of that provider's fees. Rates can change, so check Settings, then Payments in your Shopify admin.

How much does Shopify cost per month in the UK?

Basic is £25 a month billed monthly or £19 a month billed yearly, Grow is £65 or £49, and Advanced is £344 or £259. On top of the plan you pay payment fees on every sale, plus any paid apps or theme. Check Shopify's pricing page for current prices.

Does Shopify charge transaction fees with Shopify Payments?

Shopify does not add its extra transaction fee when you use Shopify Payments. You pay the card processing rate for your plan instead. The extra fee only applies when you take payments through a third-party provider.

When is it worth upgrading from Basic to Grow?

When the money you save on card fees is more than the extra subscription. On the pre-filled rates, Grow costs £40 more a month on monthly billing and saves 0.3% of online card sales, so it pays off above about £13,300 a month in sales. On yearly billing the gap is £30, so the point is about £10,000.

What does the Shopify fees calculator leave out?

It leaves out paid apps, themes, currency conversion fees, chargebacks and VAT on Shopify's fees. The card rates it uses are for online payments. Add those other costs yourself to get your full monthly spend on Shopify.
